Week 12
Week 13
February 11: Talbott airs an interview with a woman who contacted him about what MAGIC did to her. According to her, she opened an art business in East Millinocket. She said that Bruce McLean came by, offered her help, gave her a pen, had his picture taken and she never heard from him again directly. She did read about how much help MAGIC had given her, and is quite unhappy that they've been lying about it. Also, he reads Marion Campbell’s article, “The Nature Conservancy and the Wildlands Project“.
February 12: Talbott read a letter to the Bangor Daily from John DiCentes, describing how the Millinocket Town Council ignored a petition and held an illegal meeting, wherein 4 councilors met to discuss the petition before voting to deny it. He also read Ron Arnold's article about Gibbs v. The Nature Conservancy, Case H92-0371, about how The Nature Conservancy and their local supporters bamboozled land from an elderly man and ended up in court. He read part of David Cyr's article, "Win A Few, Lose A Few," which summarizes the history of "economic development" in the area. He again discusses his puzzlement about the fact that Susan Collins seems to be ignoring pleas for help, and the fact that she’s running for office this year.
February 13: Talbott finished David Cyr's article "Win A Few, Lose A Few". He also replayed Ray Campbell's speech before the Millinocket Town Council, entitled "MAGIC Is a Cancer." He also replayed the telephone call with Donna Patton, East Millinocket business owner who called in to talk about how Bruce McLean took publicity pictures with her, promised her that MAGIC would help her and then did nothing at all to help her, and how he has claimed since that time that her business is one of MAGIC's successes.
February 14: Talbott reads David Cyr's "Green Perception / Deception: Which One Is It?" He explains that although Susan Collins got MAGIC a large grant for a questionable project, she has hidden from numerous complaints to her office about the questionable ethics and possible misappropriation by MAGIC of those funds. He points out that Collins will be running for re-election this coming November. He reads from What has MAGIC Done for this Area? on Katahdin Commons. Also, he read the censure which the Council voted to give Councilor Matthew A. Polstein in April of 2001.
Week 14:
February 18: Talbott, having served East Millinocket with a Freedom of Information Act request, explains that he has received a huge number of documents. Among those documents is an email to the town selectmen about Porter's Woodworking stating that the owner had "significant troubles long before he got" the town to help him move to the spec building. It goes on to assert that the selectmen "need to ask themselves why they weren't properly informed by Bruce (McLean) and MAGIC about Jim's precarious financial situation." It also asks that the matter be put on the agenda. Talbott also breaks the news that Lisa Pelkey Hayes has taken out a petition to unseat town manager Gene Conlogue.
February 19: Talbott interviews Rep. Henry Joy, R - House District 9, who discusses LURC and their upcoming hearings, what they have planned for Northern Maine, and Land for Maine’s Future, as well as MAGIC’s involvement with green groups and the “War for the Northern Forest.”
February 20: Today, Talbott reads the parody "MAGIC Consents to an Interview" from the Magic City Morning Star.
February 21: Recapping the week, Talbott played parts of the interviews with Henry Joy, Ray Campbell, and Donna Patten, and discussed rural cleansing, reminding people to get to Orono if they can to attend LURC's meeting where they will decide the future of the Unorganized Territories. He reads a letter to the editor from Mark Wilson and the editor's response to that letter, which lays out the course MAGIC, Millinocket, and the green groups have taken in their virtual bulldozing of rural northern Maine.
Week 15
There were no shows Monday and Tuesday due to Jim Talbott’s bout with the flu.
February 27: Talbott goes through the timeline from the time Matthew Polstein made it impossible for the radio tower to stay on the mountain, through the lies and innuendoes about the Talbotts, and on into the time that Bruce McLean and MAGIC filed for a radio station with taxpayers' money. He reads "Smears and Whispers" about Lisa Pelkey Hayes’ smear campaign against one woman who opposed MAGIC.
February 28: Talbott interviews Roger Ek about the proposed school consolidations and the problems it poses. He discusses the loss of local control and the fact that the state of Maine is demanding far too much money from the towns to pay.
